Dianne and I want to thank the voters of Long Beach who entrusted me with the responsibility to serve on the Long Beach Unified School District Board of Education. I will work hard to earn the trust you put in me.
I also want to thank those who contributed to our campaign, walked neighborhoods with me and made phone calls on my behalf. In those efforts we learned that the residents of our community care deeply about the education of school children. They were gracious and eager to discuss education issues with us. I’m honored to serve them.
I look forward to working with my new colleagues on the Board, with the administration, faculty and staff, with students and parents, and with the many business and community organizations that make Long Beach such a dynamic city.
Again, thank you!
John

Wow! I’ve been thinking about you, and, in truth, I had a good feeling about your chances. Congratulations–I’m so proud of you! You’ve obviously learned a lot since the last campaign I remember you and Dianne waging, must be 40 years ago. For starters, you created a line of state-of-the-art campaign assistants. Now, that’s family planning!
I’ve been meaning to contribute, but have been caught up in making a move (as in housing, still in Cold Spring) over Christmas, and am, only now, starting to unpack and settle in. However, that means I can be among the first to give to your next campaign–yikes!
Well done, John (and Dianne, and Michelle, and Paul, and Richard). Maybe this is a harbinger of things to come in 2010 (let’s hope). Or maybe it’s just evidence that you can’t fool all the people all the time.
Much love, and happy, healthy, hopeful New Year!
